Job Description Scope of Position The Office Associate functions as an integral member of the Anesthesiology Department reflecting a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The Office Associate works under general direction of the department administrator to provide support for the department front office, faculty and managers as assigned, in addition to supporting back-up and overlapping help to colleagues in the department as needed. Position Summary Office Associate supporting administrative functions to support faculty, department leadership as well as staffing the department reception office of the Department of Anesthesiology through issue identification, prioritization, decision-making, resource identification, time management and efficient work practices. Responsibilities include effective intra and interdepartmental communications; the accurate evaluation, organization and dissemination of information to the anesthesia team; provides administrative support for department committees and other functions as assigned; researches and problem solves independently as needed. Minimum Education Required Per Classified Civil Svc Specs Required Qualifications Six months experience (600 hours training) using computers to generate a variety of materials ranging from basic to complex; 6 mos. experience (600 hrs course work) in office practices and procedures; 6 months experience (600 hours course work) in customer service. (Including license, if any.) Some positions require one year related medical secretarial experience or completion of an associate's degree program with three courses in medical terminology plus 3 mos. experience (300 hours training) in use of word processing equipment, consistent with position description. Some positions require 6 mos. experience (600 hrs course work) in supervision consistent with position description.
