Description Governors State University's (GovState) College of Education and Human Development invites applications for an Assistant or Associate, tenure-track Professor in the Counseling Program to begin in either January 2025 or August 2025. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Division of Psychology and Counseling The counseling program includes specializations in clinical mental health, marriage, couple, and family counseling, school counseling, and a doctorate in counselor education and supervision. Applicants will be expected to teach masters and doctoral courses that may include students from across the College of Education. Course load may also include undergraduate courses.

Required and Preferred Qualifications Minimum Qualifications Doctorate in counseling with a specialization in marriage/couple/family counseling at the masters or doctoral level OR a doctorate in marriage and family therapy (ABD will be considered).Ability to teach masters-level courses in counseling and specialized courses in marriage/couple/family counseling,Ability to teach doctoral-level courses in counselor education and supervision. Ability to direct dissertations,Ability to develop a program of scholarship. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in a masters and/or doctoral programGraduated from a CACREP-accredited doctoral program in counseling or a related field and taught as a full-time faculty member in a counselor education program for at least one academic year before July 1, 2013 Experience directing dissertations Experience with diverse and underserved populations Evidence of scholarship Evidence of having submitted Federal Grants Supplemental Information
