Vaco Boston is seeking an Assistant Controller for our client in Boston. This individual will support the Director of Finance in managing the accounting operations of the company, including financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. The Assistant Controller will work closely with senior leadership and other departments to ensure the company's financial health and support its growth objectives.
Responsibilities: · Assist in the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with GAAP.
· Manage the general ledger, including overseeing reconciliations, journal entries, and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
· Lead the development of the annual budget and financial forecasts, working closely with department heads to ensure alignment with company goals.
· Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
· Coordinate with external auditors during audits, ensuring all financial documentation is accurate and complete.
· Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including tax filings, financial reporting standards, and internal policies.
· Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance on complex accounting issues and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
· Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance accounting processes, implementing best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
· Provide in-depth financial analysis and insights to senior management, supporting strategic decision-making.
· Lead or participate in special projects, such as system implementations, financial modeling, and acquisitions.
Required Qualifications · Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA required.
· Minimum of 7-10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
· Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
· Experience in the manufacturing, space, defense or aerospace industry.
· High level of accuracy and attention to detail in financial reporting and documentation.
· Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop accounting teams in a fast-paced environment
