Job Summary

Nea Community Learning Center School (Nea) is hiring for a TK-8 Assistant Principal.

We are looking for a school leader who is excited to help lead a diverse community and who celebrates differences in culture, background, learning style and thought process. An administrative services credential is not required yet, we encourage those who have leadership experience within schools and are hoping to take on the adventure of being an AP to apply.

Our school is a small community charter school with TK-8 500 learners. Project-based learning (PBL) is at the heart of our curriculum. Our school culture is based on a democratic model with restorative justice.

Candidates will possess the ability to collaborate and communicate with colleagues using a clear and constructive approach.

Our Assistant Principal will report directly to the Principal and will work with staff who love to learn and and are motivated by challenge. Our school is a union organization.

Job Description / Essential Elements: ACLC Assistant Lead Facilitator Job Description

Mission Statement

The Alameda Community Learning Center is an educational model that empowers all youth to take ownership of their educational experience, to celebrate their diverse community, and to actively participate as members of a democratic society.

We are a Project-Based Learning model. Learning happens contextually across all subjects, with facilitators creating innovative, engaging, and differentiated day-to-day curriculum and projects to meet the needs of the individual learner.

At ACLC, teachers are regarded as "facilitators", and students are regarded as "learners". Our philosophy is that by facilitating and guiding the learners through the learning process, they will learn to take ownership and responsibility for their learning.

The ACLC Assistant Lead Facilitator serves Alameda Community Learning Center by providing educational leadership to fulfill the charter's educational vision by
Operations Master scheduling Approves PTO requests for staff Approves field trip requests Approves Independent Studies Calendars events including assemblies, field trips, etc. Monitors school safety Handles learner discipline up to suspensions Manages staffing and hours of facility Approves and supervises parent volunteers Collaborate on staff agenda for weekly Wednesday professional development Supports Fall and Spring (LLC) conference schedules Supports the implementation of benchmark data with facilitators in a timely manner Works closely with the Special Education Coordinator and team Maintaining a good relationship with the Academy of Alameda Other tasks as assigned by Lead Facilitator Staff Coaches facilitators and contributes to staff evaluations Support Office Manager in maintaining accurate staff attendance Supervises campus supervisor and after-school care facilitators Supervises custodial staff Support facilitators in non-curricular domains Parent Community Works closely with Parent Action Committee and their committees to have a positive school impact Supports parent participation within the philosophies of our model Takes the initiative to communicate with parents with learner concerns Serves as Facilitator PAC liaison: attend PAC meetings, facilitate Center/PAC projects and communicate parent concerns Works with parent volunteer as the Newsletter coordinator Addresses parent concerns thoroughly in a timely manner Supervises after school events, Pick up and community meetings Professional Development Embraces being a "learner" in an innovative model Spends time in all classrooms to understand our school culture and model Supports staff in reaching their professional goals Assists Lead Facilitator in the implementation of LCAP, WASC Goals and Action Plans Intervention Works with counselor to facilitate SST and 504 process at ACLC Organizes academic support and assigns learners to MAS support program Provide mentoring for struggling students as form of preventative intervention Organizing, managing, and accounting for homework and executive function strategies Coordinate, under the direction of the Lead Facilitator, MAS tutoring program Working with Lead Facilitator and facilitators to develop curriculum for MAS tutoring program Monitoring student academic performance, behavior, and attendance and assisting with appropriate interventions Fulfill additional responsibilities as needed to best serve our students and school Professional Conduct Actively contributes and collaborates within community and school Maintains professional and fair relationships with learners Respects learner confidentiality Remains respectful, clear, and honest in communication with parents/guardians regarding learner Requirements / Qualifications
