Position Overview
We are seeking a passionate and experienced
Barista/Bookseller
to join The Bookmark team. This hybrid role combines the art of coffee-making with the joy of helping customers find their next favorite read. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love books, and have experience as a barista, we would love to meet you!
Key Responsibilities
Barista Duties
: Prepare high-quality coffee and tea beverages according to The Bookmark's recipes and standards, maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, and ensure all equipment is in working order.
Customer Service
: Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, providing book recommendations, assisting with purchases, and ensuring a pleasant experience in both the bookstore and café areas.
Bookselling
: Stay updated on our current book selection, help customers locate titles, and offer personalized book suggestions. Handle transactions and manage book and gift displays.
Inventory Management
: Assist with stocking, receiving new books and café supplies, and organizing inventory.
Café Maintenance
: Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment, and follow all health and safety protocols.
Qualifications
Previous experience as a barista is required, with a passion for coffee and customer service.
Interest in books and ability to recommend titles based on customer preferences.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 pounds.
