We are seeking energetic team members for our Y-Kids Program. Y-Kids is a structured before and after school program that offers a great start and finish to every school day. Staff facilitate education and recreation opportunities, fun physical activities, healthy snacks, and positive reinforcement. With a strong focus on STEM, we encourage innovation, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and creativity in all our kids.
POSITION SUMMARY:
These general functions will be carried out in keeping with the Goals, Policies and Mission of the YMCA of the East Bay. The Assistant Site Director works closely with the Site Director to ensure the proper supervision of children and is responsible for planning and implementing a variety of recreational and educational activities which supports the children's learning and promotes self-esteem in small group settings. This person shares with the Site Director the responsibility for opening and/or closing the site.In the absence of the Site Director, the Assistant Site Director supervises other staff (teachers and aides) and is responsible for the smooth operation of the after school program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist the Site Director in developing and implementing a creative program and age appropriate activities in accordance to YMCA philosophies. Responsible for the operation of the site in the absence of the Site Director. Maintain supervision and interacts with assigned group/area at all times. Compile forms, records and files requested by the Site Director or Program Director. Maintain group behavioral limits following established Program standards. Comply with all safety and licensing guidelines. Attend and actively participate in trainings offered by YMCA and other organizations. Assist in preparation and serving snacks. Assist in planning monthly activity calendar and staff trainings. Maintain a positive and healthy relationship with parents of participants. Lead with a positive example in conduct and communication, maintaining a physically, emotionally and socially healthy environment for participants. Assist in maintenance of a clean and orderly program areas. Confer immediately with supervisor concerning suspected child abuse and follows mandated reporting procedures. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:
•High school graduate or GED; AA in early childhood development preferred
•Coursework to meet State of California licensing standards
•2 years of previous experience working in a professional child care or school aged program
•Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
•Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook and other computer programs necessary to perform the duties of the job
•CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date
