This critical and high-profile leadership role is accountable for the development and execution of underwriting strategy within the sub-segment, including setting financial plans, reinsurance strategies, and monitoring performance against established goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting quality, market and risk environment analysis, and driving cross-functional collaboration. Strong leadership is essential to the role, with a focus on talent development, training, and recruitment to ensure a high-performing underwriting team. The role requires a strategic leader with a proven track record in underwriting, P&L experience, and the ability to provide innovative underwriting solutions while challenging the status quo.
Applicants must have at least 15 years of experience in underwriting specialty, property and casualty, and a demonstrated ability to manage a team of underwriters. Experience in relevant markets, with in-depth knowledge of sales and distribution channels, is a key qualification. The ideal candidate will be a results-oriented leader with a strategic mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to influence and negotiate effectively. Skills in problem-solving, decision-making, and a focus on service and process improvement are also required.
