You will be responsible for successful management of an evolving portfolio of 4-6 corporate partners, including understanding client goals and adapting our services to meet them, managing projects to be completed on time and on-budget, securing impact for nonprofits, and overseeing and working collaboratively with multiple colleagues. On a day-to-day basis, the Consultant will work with corporate clients to identify and recruit for the skills needed to support a nonprofit project (including matching employee teams or individuals to nonprofits based on a skills profile provided), prepare the volunteer(s) and nonprofit for the project, oversee volunteer and nonprofit teams during project implementation, and evaluate impact at the end of each project.
Understand Corporate Social Impact Trends and Nonprofit Needs: Members of the Programs team are Common Impact's experts in corporate social impact, skills-based volunteering, and nonprofit needs. Individuals in the Consultant role should understand and be comfortable speaking to the needs of these sectors and taking a continuous innovation approach that balances the goals for both our corporate and nonprofit partners to ensure our programming is impactful and engaging. On the nonprofit side, the Consultant will reach out to nonprofits, hold scoping calls to assess potential impact from a Common Impact engagement, and present projects to corporate partners to identify those with the strongest alignment between corporate skills and nonprofit need. Consultants should be comfortable speaking to nonprofit needs in a variety of functional areas such as Operations, Technology, Marketing, and Strategic Planning, both in the US and globally.
Facilitate and Present at Meetings and Events: Consultants are often lead facilitators for weekly meetings with our corporate and nonprofit partners and are the face of Common Impact's programming for virtual and in-person events such as our Days of Service. Individuals in this role should be comfortable speaking confidently in meetings, presenting decks, creating and facilitating agendas, and managing programmatic logistics for both virtual and in-person settings. Common Impact's global programming means Consultants should be comfortable with some out-of-hours work, and with navigating working across time-zones and cultures.
Manage and Mentor Staff: Consultants will directly supervise 1-2 Associate Consultants and are responsible for supporting their growth at the organization and evaluating their performance. In addition, Common Impact operates in a matrixed management structure, meaning that you may supervise and work with a mix of small project teams that vary from account to account. Consultants are expected to delegate, model best practices and a solutions-oriented mindset, and build team cohesion across project teams.
Innovate and Refine our Services: Common Impact values innovation and continuous iteration of our programs and services.
