BBSI is partnering with a rapidly growing client in the construction industry to find a strategic and dynamic Controller. Position Overview: As the Controller, you will oversee the company's financial activities, ensuring all accounting operations are performed efficiently and in compliance with industry standards. You will be responsible for managing a small team of accounting professionals, maintaining financial integrity, and driving financial strategy to support business growth.
Key Responsibilities: Oversee all aspects of financial management, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, and Payroll. Manage and schedule all Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting. Supervise the Fixed Assets Module and ensure accurate tracking of all company assets. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, including sales tax returns and union reports. Oversee the preparation of year-end financial statements in collaboration with the CPA firm, ensuring compliance with tax regulations. Implement and review financial controls, policies, and procedures to optimize accuracy and efficiency. Train, mentor, and lead the accounting team, providing guidance on complex accounting issues. Review and analyze cash flow, costings, and projections, delivering financial insights to support strategic decisions. Ensure all insurance renewals are aligned with the company's risk management strategy and business requirements. Lead the annual budget preparation process, working closely with management to forecast financial needs and future growth. Qualifications: 7+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a Controller or senior financial management role. Previous experience in construction accounting is highly preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and compliance requirements. Expertise in construction-specific accounting software and advanced proficiency in Excel. Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting. Experience in tax regulations, compliance, and preparing complex tax filings. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
