Spring Bank is an FDIC insured community bank headquartered in The Bronx, New York. Founded in 2007 as the first bank to headquarter in the South Bronx in 25 years and the first B Corp Bank in New York State our mission is to pursue a double bottom line, serving the needs of underserved consumers and small businesses in the New York City area by providing transparent and affordable banking products and services.
Spring Bank has been designated by the U.S. Treasury as a Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), in recognition of the investments and loans the bank makes in low- and moderate-income communities in New York City. Who You Are::
Spring Bank is currently seeking an on-site Banking Customer Service Representative to join the staff. This is a full-time, non-exempt (overtime eligible) role, based in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
What You'll Do::
Duties & Responsibilities: Provide friendly, pro-active servicing of customer needs to continually exceed expectations. Open new accounts (consumer and business) with appropriate identification and maintain customer files. Complete other operational duties as assigned, including those unique to the requirements of assigned branch. Process customer monetary transactions accurately and efficiently as required ensuring branch protocol is followed and customer service is maintained at the highest level. Resolve easy-to-complex customer service issues expeditiously while providing a personable customer experience. Collect and safeguard sensitive financial data. Perform recorded callbacks to verify wiring instructions. Use a variety of banking systems to service customers (FIS, Horizon, etc.)
Describe and (cross) sell the Banks products and services as appropriate to benefit customers. Identify fraudulent activity to prevent potential losses and maintain awareness of current fraud alerts. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Banks products and services and applicable Federal regulations, including Bank Secrecy and Know Your Customer principles. Adhere strictly to compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with Company and regulatory standards, policies and practices; report control weaknesses, compliance breaches and operational loss events. Review reports and resolve exceptions as per procedure. Share knowledge and train other employees within Branch. Contact clients to ensure satisfaction with current services and cross-sell if appropriate. Must be willing to work at other branches if/when necessary. Perform other duties, as assigned. What You Bring:: High School Diploma or Associates' Degree. At least one year of prior cash handling experience in either a retail banking environment or in a check-cashing business. At least one year of customer service experience. Must have strong math and computer skills in addition to being analytical. Ability to build new customer relationships and/or strengthen existing relationships. Preferred knowledge of banking products and services as well as banking regulations and compliance issues involving customer transactions. Must have an upbeat and outgoing personality with a strong attention to detail. Willingness to assist/support other areas and grow within the Bank. Must be a team player; the ability to work as part of a team is essential. Must be a strong communicator; ability to solve problems with minimal assistance. Ability to prioritize and multi-task. Must be able to commute to Red Hook, Brooklyn on a daily basis. Knowledge of / familiarity with bank software applications (Horizon, FIS, etc.). Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time
What We Offer::
Hourly Pay Range: $23 - $25; commensurate w/experience.
