GENERAL SUMMARY:
Educate and shape the young minds of the School's student body by instructing them in arts, and to lead by personal and professional example and behavior. The Elementary Art Teacher is responsible for developing in each student an interest in and the ability for creative expression, using skills and techniques of artistic expression consistent with Vimenti School guidelines. Will be an integral link between the students, parents, and school, and will, to the utmost of his/her ability, uphold the standards created by the School. Maintain high quality standards in all our school's initiatives and to successfully communicate to our students, parents, staff, Board and community at large that our School is an important contributor to our society. Ensure the Best Teaching Practices are reflected in all initiatives and in all programs in the Elementary School.
ESSENTIAL TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Help students develop aesthetic awareness.
2. Teach students to use the creative process and problem solving skills.
3. Guide students to search for innovative approaches to meet challenges.
4. Help students manipulate elements, media, and forms to convey messages about their thoughts and feelings.
5. Teach students about cultural innovations and influences on modern art and art theory.
6. Guide students to construct works of art using various media.
7. Teach students to express feelings and thoughts using words while considering a piece of art.
8. Teach students to express feelings and thoughts through the creative process to make a finished artistic product while considering a theme or criteria.
9. Help students connect art to other subjects, peoples, and the world.
10. Develop appropriate instructional strategies given the age, outcomes and curriculum expectations.
11. Bring enthusiasm to the classroom.
12. Vary teaching and assessment approaches.
13. Address individual student needs for success.
14. Use knowledge of students, classroom, and the world at large to guide activities and learning opportunities.
15. Help expose students to a broader social, cultural and historical context through art.
16. Provide opportunities for students to practice patience and perseverance through the creative process.
17. Enthusiastically participate in collaborative co-curricular and extracurricular teams; draw students into these projects.
18. Be ready to receiving teaching feedback and support from teaching partners and administration.
19. Demonstrate initiative, resiliency, and frugality, while maximizing student experience.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION Y/O EXPERIENCE:
Teacher-certified by the Department of Early Education and Care. (college degree a plus)
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
: Excellent interpersonal and communication/listening skills, including written and oral skills in both English and Spanish preferred or when feasible. Demonstrated proactive orientation with emphasis in academic and leadership credibility. Ability to motivate students and teachers, preferably by maintaining a visible, approachable and positive outlook in the handling of situations. Computer/technological skills; ability to research and abstract relevant educational developments, from the Web. Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage time well. Ability to prepare and manage school division's budget and allocated resources.
PHISICAL DEMANDS
: Individuals may need to sit or stand as needed. The position may require walking primarily on a level surface for periodic periods throughout the day. May reach above shoulder heights or below the waist and lift as required to file documents or store materials throughout the workday and must be able to lift 15 pounds and use proper lifting techniques.
