The successful candidate will be responsible for upholding the company's values, delivering on its mission of changing lives through challenge and discovery, and ensuring the safety, financial stability, and strategic growth of the organization. This role requires a leader with a strong background in youth development, outdoor experiential education, and nonprofit management, who can inspire and mentor staff, and maintain a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The Executive Director will also be tasked with fundraising, managing the annual budget, and fostering effective partnerships with the Board, senior staff, and the larger Outward Bound network.

Applicants for the Executive Director position at the company should have a proven track record in fundraising, be adept at managing complex operations, and have a clear alignment with the organization's mission and values. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of professional and personal leadership qualities, including emotional intelligence, high levels of business acumen, and a collaborative, decisive approach. Experience in a managerial position with P&L responsibility, as well as a background in outdoor experiential education, is highly desirable. The Executive Director must be an effective communicator, both in terms of storytelling and in resolving conflicts, and should be culturally competent with a strong commitment to creating a diverse and inclusive environment.
