Their programs span various areas, including housing, senior services, health care, youth development, education, empowerment, community development, arts programming, skills training, homelessness prevention, and access to healthy foods.Here are some highlights:Youth Center: RiseBoro converted 30,000 square feet of vacant land into a youth center, providing local youth and their families with opportunities for skill development, mentorship, and growth.Senior Services: RiseBoro was designated the first Innovative Senior Center in Brooklyn by the NYC Department for the Aging. Their extensive programming includes health management, physical exercise, and nutritional programs, collaborating with local hospitals and universities.Affordable Housing: RiseBoro is involved in affordable housing projects, such as the Hunters Point venture, which includes 1,100 apartments and retail/community space. 80% of the units are permanently affordable or earmarked for seniors.RiseBoro's mission is to empower communities to thrive, regardless of the odds. The salaryoffer will be basedonthe candidate's experience in the exact orcomparableposition and additional preferred qualifications will be considered.Purpose of Position: The Intake Specialist will be representing RiseBoro in the community and interacting with prospective clients, service providers, funding agencies, and community stakeholders.Schedule: Monday - Friday (Day Shift) Salary: $42-49k annual DOERoles, Responsibilities and Essential Duties:Coordinate the intake process, review eligibility documentation, schedule appointments, make referrals, and provide all individuals with information on community resourcesScreen and assess individuals for program eligibility and determine the appropriate next steps for all individuals seeking assistanceReview eligibility documentation to ensure compliance with contractual guidelinesCoordinate with the supervisor in scheduling new client intake Ensure all client resources are up-to-date and available in reception areaPerform periodic outreach activities to publicize the program offerings and communicate the availability of servicesReceive and sort mail deliveriesEnsure the reception area is organized, safe, and presentable Ensure accuracy when performing administrative tasks i.e., data entry, filing, copying, and faxingMaintain daily logs of client and staff signatures; ensure all sign daily Assist in preparing letters and documents for community-based outreach activitiesOther duties as assignedRequired Skills/Qualifications:High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE/GED) requiredBilingual English/Spanish speaker requiredExperience in Microsoft Office Suite and client databases requiredSkills, Knowledge & Abilities:Knowledge of the NYC public benefits system, HRA, and DHS preferredAbility to demonstrate a high level of professionalism and strong presentation skillsProficient in scheduling software i.e., Appointments PlusExperience working in non-profit organizations preferredExcellent customer service skills and interpersonal skillsExcellent oral and written communication skillsExcellent organizational skills with attention to detailAbility to effectively multi-task, follow up processes, and produce quality work on timeAbility to work independently and collaboratively as a teamA self-starter with a positive enthusiastic attitude Ability to work with a diverse population, and contribute to building a positive team spiritAbility to be flexible and adaptable Commitment to RiseBoro's mission, vision, and valuesAbility to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality, particularly with client informationAbility to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communitiesCommitment to supporting communities that have experienced systemic oppression and bias (i.e., people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.)Employee Benefits:Medical, Dental, VisionFSA after 60 days Commuter Benefits after 30 days403B eligible after 30 days 13 Agency Holidays off15 Vacation Days year 1The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of duties and responsibilities that will be required of this position and title and shall not be construed as a declaration of the specific duties and responsibilities of any position.
