Federal Signal is hiring a Manufacturing Engineer for our operations department who will collaborate with our design and production team to determine manufacturability of new products.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities Collaborates with Design Engineering, Production Supervisor, and Group leaders for manufacturability ("Design for Assembly") of new products and participates in Design Reviews. Programs and troubleshoots PCB equipment Programs and troubleshoots automation, robotics and various technology in the facility Determines, specifies, and implements the necessary tooling, facilities, fixturing processes, and production equipment required, including vendor selection, for manufacturing. Conducts Value Analysis on existing products. Develops, justifies, and implements process and assembly improvements for existing products in tools, fixtures, and production equipment. Proposes and implements approaches to the design and development of new manufacturing processes, equipment, and Plant/Work Center layout. Balances line production (manufacturing) based on sales/marketing requirements. Evaluates and monitors production performance against router times. Assists Design and Test Engineering and specifies the necessary equipment for testing. Instructs and trains supervisors and group leaders on proper operation of production machinery and equipment. Develops teams to investigate and resolve routine production problems. Conducts Cost/Router/Material Usage Audits as required by Cost Accounting/Marketing. Position Requirements Bachelor Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering. CAD/CAM experience.Microcomputer proficiency in major packages.
