Under the leadership of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), the Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations (SVP) is ultimately accountable for the overall administrative and strategic leadership, operating results, and financial performance of three major areas of responsibility across the Mass General Entities:
Hospital Capacity Management: The SVP serves as the executive directly responsible for all aspects of Capacity Management.Surgical and Procedural Services: The SVP serves as the executive directly responsible for all aspects of Peri-Operatives and Procedural Services across the MGH.Support Services: The SVP serves as the executive directly responsible for all support services across the Mass General Sites.Key ResponsibilitiesThe SVP will work collaboratively with MGB and MGH leaders including CMO, CNO/ACNOs, Chairs and Chiefs, Case Management and other SVPs for clinical services on hospital-wide initiatives to advance service optimization and integration, enhanced patient experience, and value-based care delivery.
Minimum Job Qualifications:10+ years of experience as a leader within an academic medical center.Demonstrated track record of successfully leading teams.Experience working in a highly matrixed organization/environment strongly preferred.Master's or doctorate degree required.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:Leadership: Outstanding interpersonal skills and a high degree of social facility in obtaining cooperation and support from a broad range of people.Results Orientation: Results-driven approach with experience/ability to achieve results in a metrics-based analytical environment.Organizational Skills: Outstanding organizational skills to manage many competing timetables and responsibilities.Collaboration: Able to work effectively within a matrixed organizational structure.Business Acumen: Budget management, data, and analytics market knowledge.Initiative: A self-starter who can develop roadmaps and frameworks.Communicator/Facilitator: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Project Management: Proven ability to successfully manage highly complex projects.Innovation: Creativity in exploring and adapting new measures to improve.Judgment: Demonstrated judgment in managing sensitive issues.Team Development: Take personal responsibility in developing a team.Time Management: Exceptional organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.Technology: Competency in the latest digital capability to support decision support tools.Working Conditions:Attends meetings in and out of hospitals and clinics. May require travel to off-campus locations.Available for early and late meetings and flexible to meet frequent deadlines.
