This position requires up to 50% local travel in the Chicago Metro area. A local candidate is preferred. Your Background Associate or bachelor's degree in energy management, technology, business administration, or related field.Successful lead generation, networking, and relationship-building ability.Knowledge of project financial metrics, commercial HVAC distributors& contractors, and customer motivations/priorities.At least 3 to 5 years of related experience, preferably working with commercial HVAC clients or HVAC manufacturers.General knowledge and understanding of energy-efficient HVAC technologies and opportunities for commercial facilities, i.e., emerging HVAC technologies, benefits of different equipment types, how they use energy and methods for reducing energy use.Experience with utility-funded energy efficiency programs.Technical or consultative sales experience preferred. Adept at effectively explaining and encouraging interest in utility program offerings.Good knowledge of HVAC, HVAC controls, state level building codes as they pertain to HVAC systems, with knowledge of the methodologies for determining energy savings a plus.Experience giving presentations to a wide array of audiences, from contractors, business owners, utility mid-level managers, and leadership.Managing utility programs' outreach scope, schedule, and budget.Experience working with CRMs/Salesforce.Preferred Additional Experience & Knowledge Certified Energy Manager (CEM)Familiarity with the IL Technical Reference Manual, International Energy Conservation Code & The AHRI Directory of Certified Product Performance Day–to–Day The Outreach Professional Is Accountable for engaging and maintaining relationships with distributors and Contractors that work In the commercial HVAC space to influence the completion of energy efficiency projects. The Outreach Professional is accountable for achieving established goals through a combination of excellent customer service and project management. The day-to-day tasks are listed below.
Maintaining excellent relationships with all vendors to ensure high customer satisfaction and identify potential future needs.Use effective communication skills with people in various roles, including commercial HVAC contractors, design engineers, manufacturer reps, sales staff, and managers at commercial distributors and corporate stakeholders, to identify energy efficiency projects and encourage their implementation.Guide, support, meet with and educate distributors, contractors, engineers, and customers to encourage their participation in Midstream and other utility programs.Represent the energy efficiency program requirements thoroughly and accurately.Assist distributor sales, engineers, and contractors with utility incentive applications and review service provider work proposals.Generate leads from cold calls, networking, building, and leveraging relationships within the energy efficiency program vendor network.Support marketing professionals with market insights, identified marketing opportunities, and meaningful content that will effectively communicate with the marketplace for increased program success.Meet with end-use customers to conduct installation verifications post-project submission, approval, and completion.Provide regular reporting of lead generation, project status, or other data as directed by Program Management including continuous updating of CRM.Overall management of energy projects through the incentive administration process from beginning to end.Work independently to meet goals and targets.Perform event planning, coordination, and presentations of programs.Stay educated on additional utility programs and actively provide referrals to other outreach professionals support broader portfolio success.Maintain organized project files containing project documentation, correspondence, appropriate reference materials, etc.Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly activity reports and track progress toward program goals. About You General familiarity with, and passion for, energy and efficiency.Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact comfortably with external customers. Focus on customer engagement with the ability to build trusting long-term working relationships.Proven customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal. The ability to listen, motivate, and empathize is critical.Demonstrated awareness of sensitive communications and client/end-user dynamics and a capability for diplomatically working through issues.Self-directed and able to work independently and collaboratively with others to drive execution, solve problems creatively, and foster innovation among teams. Able to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Exceptional organizational skills. Ability to adeptly juggle multiple projects, customers, deadlines, and demands.Ability to navigate ambiguity with intentionality and grace.Proficient with MS Office and Salesforce, understanding and using SharePoint features and reporting abilities.Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated with the ability to achieve results.
