The Paramedic is responsible for assessing patients' conditions, administering advanced life support, and transporting patients to medical facilities for further treatment. Paramedics are an integral part of the healthcare system, provide critical care during emergencies and making a significant impact on patient's lives. The role of the Paramedic requires exceptional leadership qualities, advanced training and education, demands quick thinking, compassion, and the ability to work as part of a team to deliver timely and effective pre-hospital care.ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESProvide excellent patient care within the scope of practice of a Paramedic Provide leadership and mentoring to EMT and AEMT crew membersRespond to emergent and non-emergent transports Provides effective communication with patients, dispatch, crews, family members, and facility staffAbility operation communication devices; portable radio, cell phone, computer tabletCompletion of patient contact reports prior to shift completionEnsure maintenance of vehicles and equipment for transport readinessMaintain cleanliness of station Maintain certifications with timely completion of refresher courses and CMEsRemain current on all state protocols, policies, and/or procedures Represent BMT/BCA at community events as assigned RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSGraduation From High School or equivalent19 years old at time of hire for insurance purposesSuccessful completion of NR Paramedic certificationCurrent NR Paramedic and State Paramedic (or ability to obtain with in 10 days of hire)Current AHA BLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hireCurrent AHA ACLS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hireCurrent AHA PALS CPR or ability to obtain within 10 days of hire Knowledge of pumps, vents, and monitors utilized in EMS careAbility to provide quality patient care within scope of practiceKnowledge of all state protocols for a ParamedicValid driver's licenseAbility to drive company vehicles with a clean driving recordSuccessful completion of a state sponsored EVOC course or ability to obtain in 90 daysAbility to pass a lift test of 150 - 200 poundsAbility to pass a pre-employment drug testAbility to pass a pre-employment background checkAbility to speak and write English PREFERRED SKILLSLeadership experienceExcellent customer service skillsKnowledge of medical terminology and writing patient care reportsProblem solvingAbility to remain calm under pressurePrevious EMS experience Salary Description $26-$40/hr including shift differential & bonus
