ABOUT YOU

As a Port Officer Trainee (Bargaining Unit, Local Union No. 170), you are driven to safeguard life and property. You exhibit unwavering commitment to security, confidently enforcing policies and proactively preventing incidents. With keen observation skills and clear communication abilities, you maintain a vigilant watch over Massport facilities, ensuring the safety of all individuals entering and leaving. Diligently documenting activities and adhering to procedures, you contribute to the seamless operation of the port while upholding the highest standards of integrity and professionalism.

What you will do: Enforce Massport's policies, challenge suspicious persons, and remove unauthorized individuals from Massport property to ensure security.Report hazards and maintain a safe environment.Monitor all individuals and vehicles entering and leaving Massport property, verifying identities and enforcing entrance criteria.Conduct regular rounds on foot, bike, or in patrol vehicles, checking gates, doors, perimeter fencing, vessel docks, berth areas, and issuing tickets for illegally parked cars. WHAT YOU OFFER WHAT YOU OFFER High School Diploma or equivalent.Completed Certified MPTC Recruit Officer Course, the Mass. State Police SSPO Academy in New Braintree MA, or the Massachusetts Bridge Academy (MPTC) to be eligible for POST certification, with an exception for out-of-state academy graduates who need 2 years of full-time law enforcement experience for a permanent MPTC exemption.
