We are seeking a Procurement Representative (Buyer) to help us to solicit proposals, negotiate, award and administer commercial purchases of goods and services. This position requires close communication with suppliers, program offices and management. Expediting deliveries and working in a team environment is essential for this position. We work in a highly dynamic team environment and are constantly looking for people with creative problem solving skills.
As a Procurement Representative (Buyer)... Your primary responsibility will be to review incoming purchase requirements, solicit quotes, and negotiate & issue commercial purchase orders You will have the opportunity to learn and use SharePoint and other business systems for filing procurement actions You will need to work closely with other procurement staff and management You will need to communicate frequently with program and project managers, prime contract managers and suppliers QualificationsYou meet our minimum qualifications for the job if you... Possess a Bachelor's Degree in a Business related discipline, or equivalent years of work experience Have 2+ years of professional level procurement experience to include placing purchase orders, issuing RFQs, reviewing quotes, negotiating with vendors and assisting technical teams with award tradeoff decisions. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills The ability to multi-task effectively Are able to work independantly You'll go above and beyond our minimum requirements if you... Have experience with SharePoint (for document routing and storage), ServiceNow (as an intake and communication system), Adobe Portfolio, and/or Oracle-based business systems (EBSS) Have experience processing commercial or federal procurements Have experience in Supply Chain for Space or NASA programs Why work at APL?
