Certification Requirements: ARRT (MR), BLS, IV Certification
Desired Years of Experience: 5 years in acute care, preferable in a trauma setting. Experience on a 3T system.
JOB DUTIES:
Performs MRI examinations. Performs a variety of duties in preparing neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients for the technical component of scans and treatments of particular organs to furnish diagnostic information. Operates MRI equipment to produce the scans. Provides support and training assistance as well as functioning in all aspects of position. Assists the Lead and Department in maintenance of equipment and QA/QC program(s) for meeting regulatory and accreditation and re-accreditation. Serves as department liaison.
JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Establishes and maintains department policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Performs examinations in MRI.
Performs radiographic examination including general radiographic, surgical, portable, emergency, trauma and outpatient examinations.
Selects and operates equipment within guidelines of the Hospital and Department of Radiology.
Reviews and evaluates completed tests for quality, completeness, and type of test ordered, ensures quality images.
Obtains patient history, answers patient questions and explains the procedure.
Provides radiation protection as prescribed by DSHS Radiation section Title 17 Public Health, for patients, employees, visitors and physicians.
Maintains department facilities, equipment, and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health comfort and safety of patients and staff.
Assists physician during performance of examinations. Demonstrates ability to adapt to individual physician routines.
Oversees the work of other personnel by training, allocating and monitoring work. Performs work of a similar nature.
Maintains effective communication with the department. Provides information and support to patients, physicians, visitors and other personnel within the department and hospital.
Maintains effective ethical and interpersonal skills.
Prepares, updates and maintains department records, files and reports. Participates in all areas of clerical responsibilities including operation of front reception area as well as film and file rooms.
Enhances professional growth and development through participating in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings and workshops.
Assists with patient transport as necessary.
Accepts flexibility in duty assignments and schedules. Adheres to department and hospital policies and procedures.
