Position Summary:
The Reliability Manager assists to improve the reliability and quality of product design and manufacturing process. This role is responsible for assuring that product validation & qualification tests are planned and performed to customers and/or Engineering test requirements on calibrated test equipment.
Job Function:
Design and execute pre-product reliability tests, accelerated life tests, and ongoing reliability monitoring tests. Provide reliability prediction models at component and system level. Participate in the product development meetings and guide the team to develop reliable products that meets internal specifications and customer requirements. Development of reliability test systems for new market demands. Coordinate and manage testing for data collection and analysis. Present test and failure analysis results to the Engineering team and work with other groups within the Engineering team to develop design changes to improve reliability performance. Prepare written reports summarizing the results of product performance and failure analysis for reliability test parts. Coordinate outsourced reliability tests. Interface with customers and suppliers on product reliability. Interface with vendors to purchase lab equipment. Makes decisions within area of specialty, manages medium to large projects. Initiate necessary action to prevent nonconformities. Identify and record any non-conformities. Monitor solution implementations to verify effectiveness of changes and take corrective action. Standardize implementations to avoid further nonconformities. Qualifications:
BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Engineering or Physics. Advanced degree preferred.
5 years' experience as a Reliability Engineer in imaging, instrumentation, or equivalent industry.
Experience with Environmental, Mechanical and ESD stresses.
Experience with problem solving methodologies and leading root cause analysis.
Hands on with Weibull , ALTA, SPOF tools and methodology (or equivalent reliability software).
Experience with MTTF/MTBF calculation.
Experience with LabVIEW and JMP.
Ability to analyze component performance data in reliability tests, including large variety of test parts and multiple design variations.
Experience with Design of Experiments, FMEA, product design reviews and DFM.
Experience with reliability qualification by similarity.
Experience with failure analysis for TEM/SEM products, including optical microscopes (metallurgical and stereo), X-ray, Raman spectroscopy, FTIR, OBIRCH, etc.
Experience with mechanical fixture design and coordination of machine shop builds.
Experience with electrical board design and fabrication.
Experience with clean room operations.
Experience with customer returns failure analysis support.
