Overview:
Provides direct patient services using Magnetic Resonance Imaging equipment as prescribed by physician.
Responsibilities:
Apply necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of an acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient's age specific needs. Process images and perform imaging enhancements according to protocol/procedure. Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures by informing patient of nature of procedure, the area to be imaged, and any additional special instructions patient may need. Properly identify patients according to the organizations policy and procedure. Review control sheet or electronic record for correct exam ordered and any additional pertinent information prior to performing exam. Ensure all MRI images are appropriately labeled as specified as per Department protocol. Participate in quality improvement activities by collecting and assisting in the interpretation of relevant data when requested. Perform MRI contrast injection. Supervise radiology students assigned to the MRI area. Inform appropriate personnel of needed equipment repairs or unsafe conditions. Perform related clerical duties in the absence of Support personnel. Attends in-service and other professional development meetings as required. Performs post-processing of MRI images to include 3-D reconstruction as required. Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Graduate of an approved School of Radiologic Technology. Experience: Minimum of two (2) years prior experience. Prior experience interacting with Hospital vendors and regulatory agencies helpful. Supervise Support personnel in the absence of MRI Coordinator. Knowledge and Skills: Good interpersonal skills. Ability to read and write in English along with good communication skills. Ability to fully utilize OBHs electronic record systems (RIS), equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position. Licenses, Certifications: NYS Radiologic Technologist License ARRT MRI Certified, except staff that were grandfathered as per the CBA with 1199 dated 09/1/2022. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 60 pounds as well as assist with patient maneuvering.
