The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that encompasses individual donors, various types of institutions, and corporate sponsorships. This role requires a candidate with a strong background in non-profit fundraising operations, a proven track record in securing large grants, and the ability to foster new relationships while nurturing existing ones. The VP of Development will also be instrumental in embedding principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization's fundraising activities and will work closely with the President and Senior Leadership Team to ensure the strategy is in line with the organization's mission and values.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's degree, 8-10 years of experience in foundation fundraising, and a passion for the organization's mission. They should be adept at strategic visioning, have excellent communication skills, and be able to effectively manage a team. Strong connections with funders in the environmental movement are highly valued. The role demands a high level of professionalism, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to meeting deadlines. The VP of Development will also be expected to travel as necessary to support the organization's mission and work with global staff on international fundraising efforts.
