Counseling in Schools (CIS) is seeking applicants for a full-time Youth Development Specialist at Kurt Hahn Expeditionary Learning School (KHELS), which serves as a crucial support role within CIS and school administration. This position is responsible for overseeing student attendance tracking, coordinating events and workshops that promote social-emotional development, advocating/ coordinating resources for student needs, and maintaining stewardship of school spaces, including hallway and bathroom monitor duties, as needed throughout the school. This is a full time 12-month position.
Key Responsibilities: Manage daily attendance tracking through the Attendance Heat Map, collaborating closely with the School Secretary, Parent Coordinator, and Attendance Team. Coordinate and facilitate the Young People's Initiative program and weekly workshops, focusing on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and integrating the Kurt Hahn 5 commitments. Design and produce materials for school events, including t-shirt designs for community gatherings and initiatives both within and outside the school. Organize, plan and facilitate activities such as school celebrations, career day as well as off-site trips, college tours, and parent events. Communicate effectively with school staff to coordinate events and initiatives throughout the academic year, including advisory meetings, Community Meetings, and School Improvement Team (SIT) gatherings. Support CSD in tracking program expenses weekly/monthly and ensuring adherence to financial guidelines. Develop and implement strategies that enhance academic, social, and personal growth for students, staff, and the broader school community. Qualifications: Demonstrated experience in youth development, social-emotional learning, or a related area. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, and community members. Commitment to responding to the needs and interests of young people within an educational setting. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports and documentation as required. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Acrobat for creating and managing PDF documents. Familiarity with Canva or similar tools for creating graphics and reports. Requirements:
