Job Overview:
As an Assistant Construction Manager specializing in Transmission & Distribution (T&D) and Substation projects, you will play a key role in supporting the Construction Manager in the oversight and coordination of field operations for electrical infrastructure projects. You will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with safety standards, quality expectations, and client requirements. This position involves close collaboration with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities: Project Coordination: Assist the Construction Manager in planning, scheduling, and executing T&D and substation construction projects. Coordinate with engineers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders to ensure that all activities align with project specifications. Monitor daily field operations, providing on-site support as needed. Safety & Compliance: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on the job site, ensuring all activities comply with OSHA standards and company policies. Assist in conducting safety meetings, inspections, and incident investigations. Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, local building codes, and utility standards. Quality Control: Oversee the quality of workmanship and materials used in the construction of substations and T&D infrastructure. Coordinate with QA/QC teams to address non-conformance issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented. Maintain thorough documentation of quality checks and project progress. Subcontractor & Vendor Management: Assist in the selection and coordination of subcontractors and vendors for various project tasks. Monitor subcontractor performance to ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards. Review and approve vendor deliveries, ensuring that materials meet specifications. Budget & Schedule Management: Track project costs and work with the Construction Manager to identify and address potential budget overruns. Monitor the project schedule, identifying potential delays and working to mitigate them. Assist in the preparation of progress reports, change orders, and other documentation for internal and client use. Client & Stakeholder Communication: Serve as a liaison between the Construction Manager and clients, ensuring effective communication and issue resolution. Participate in client meetings, providing updates on project status, challenges, and solutions. Foster positive relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Experience: 3+ years of experience in construction management or a related field, with a focus on electrical infrastructure, T&D, or substation projects. Familiarity with the construction and operation of high-voltage transmission lines, substations, and related infrastructure. Skills: Strong understanding of electrical construction practices, safety regulations, and industry standards. Excellent organizational and project management skills. Proficient in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6) and Microsoft Office Suite. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams. Certifications: OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
