Position Summary: The Director of Administration & Finance is responsible for the planning and oversight of the organization's administrative and financial operations, including IT administration, compliance, and budgeting. This position will work closely with the Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors to collaborate on strategic planning and ensure financial and operational viability for the organization. The Director of Administration & Finance will supervise three full-time staff, the Assistant Director of Finance & Administration, the Assistant Director of Finance for Program Contracts, and the Senior Operations Manager.

Status: This position is full-time, 40 hours a week, exempt.
Essential Functions: Administration Lead MHSA's Administration & Finance team in planning, managing, and analyzing the fiscal health and successful operations of the organization. Oversee and improve the administrative operations of the organization, including policies, procedures, and systems. Oversee IT administration with the Assistant Director of Finance & Administration. Collaborate with the Senior Operations Manager on Human Resources and Operations tasks including payroll, benefits procurement and administration, compliance, policies & procedures, and systems. Manage MHSA's operational expenses and ensure MHSA remains in compliance with regards to our financial practices, personnel practices, taxes, and general operations. Provide guidance and expertise to staff and the organization on matters of finance, administration, payroll, and compliance. Act as a back-up for payroll processing and approval. Financial Stewardship Manage and maintain strong relationships with our external accounting firm, who support MHSA's financial work, as well as our auditing firm. Oversee the financial responsibilities of MHSA in relation to our local, state, and federal contracts, ensuring accurate budgets, compliance, and proper reporting. Collaborate with the Board Treasurer, Investment Committee, and Audit Committee on strategic financial planning for the organization. Collaborate with our external accounting firm to develop annual and multi-year budgets. Analyze financial reports to communicate important information to senior-level management and the Board. Manage cash flow and monitor changes in funding availability. Provide final approval for organizational expenses, including expense requests, travel expense requests, and bills, coding expenses properly. Work with the Administration & Finance team to develop and maintain sound and current financial management systems and written procedures. Collaborate with our external accounting firm to identify financial risks and implement controls to mitigate them. Effectively communicate and present any critical financial matters to the CEO. Other duties as reasonably required to support MHSA's mission and organizational operations. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Math, Business Administration, or related field. At least 7 years of experience managing the administration and finances of an organization. Prior experience supervising employees. Familiarity managing administration and finances for a non-profit organization preferred. Master of Business Administration (MBA) preferred. Advanced skills in Excel, QuickBooks, and Bill.com. Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and Adobe Acrobat. Exceptional organizational skills and a strong attention to detail. Proven ability to take initiative and lead a team on projects and priorities. Demonstrated ability to be self-directed, adaptable, and to work both independently and in a team environment. Ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Commitment to advancing racial and ethnic equity. Passion and empathy for the mission of ending homelessness and interest in those prioritized by MHSA's work: adults experiencing chronic homelessness often coupled with physical and/or behavioral health disabilities. Must reside in Massachusetts while employed at MHSA. Note: MHSA supports a hybrid work environment. Staff are expected to work from the Boston office as needed to ensure maximum performance and results, and at the direction of supervisors.
