DLR Group has an opening for a strategic-minded, creative, and innovative Laboratory Planner / Designer.
We operate within a hybrid work model, supporting flexibility between office time and work from home. Locations: New York, NYPosition Summary: This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual with more than 3 years of Laboratory Planning and Design experience to join our Science+Technology team. This position requires excellent communication and people skills as you will work closely with DLR Group's Principals, Project Managers, and Laboratory Planners while assuming a key role for architectural laboratory programming and planning for a wide variety of clients and project types including but not limited to R+D facilities, teaching/learning environments, and analytical laboratories.
You will be responsible for programming, planning, and designing laboratory facilities for academic, corporate, and government clients, as a member of our Science+Technology team. In addition, you may be required to spend time assisting with business development activities. Are you ready to make an impact? The successful candidate will: Work with Sr. Laboratory Planners to develop program requirements, conceptual layouts, and detailed design criteria for Science and Technology laboratory and research facilities.Work with team members to provide necessary communications and documentation needed to ensure successful completion of projects.Be responsible for the planning and design of laboratory facilities.Work directly with integrated design teams to deliver coordinated projects on schedule.Participate in and provide leadership in client presentations and project meetings.Independently collect data, analyze project goals and objectives, and assist other disciplines involved in the design process.Evaluate lab equipment and casework and aid the client in selecting casework and equipment for their laboratory environments.Prepare contract documents in Revit and specifications for projects while ensuring compatibility with drawings and technical conditions.Be dedicated to achieving high standards of quality in design and documentation.Have demonstrated ability and are confident in interacting with user groups and documenting outcomes from user group meetings in Bluebeam and Revit.Required Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Interior design, Engineering, Planning, or related field.Over three years of experience in designing science and technology lab and research projects.Revit, Bluebeam, Lumion, and Enscape proficiency.Experience working with In-Design and Photoshop.Excellent interpersonal communication, client service, and analytical skills.An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our dynamic Science + Technology team culture.Ability to travel up to 20%.Must be eligible to work in the United States without need for work visa or residency sponsorship.Preferred Qualifications: Professional registration or working towards registration.LEED Accredited Professional.WELL Accredited Professional.DLR Group is an integrated design firm delivering architecture, engineering, interiors, planning, and building optimization for new construction, renovation, and adaptive reuse.
