JOB TITLE: School Outreach Liaison, School-Based Early Support Program
DEPARTMENT: Family Counseling
REPORTS TO: Program Director of School-Based Early Support Program
SUPERVISES: Community Pathways Worker
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The School-Based Early Support (SBES) Program is a new preventive services model that enhances school-based partnerships. The School Outreach Liaison serves as the primary contact for school staff in our partner schools and takes the lead on partnership-building with key stakeholders. As part of the SBES team the School Outreach Liaison will assist with program implementation, including the Families and Schools Together (FAST) program and supervision of the Community Pathways Worker.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to Serve as the liaison between school and program staff in 4 partner elementary and middle schools in Brooklyn School District (15 or 20) to coordinate outreach, services, and events for each school Lead family outreach and engagement efforts Together with the Program Director, facilitate a co-design process to develop school-based offerings in partnership with the schools and families Coordinate, plan, and facilitate Families and Schools Together (FAST): an evidence-based model for multiple family groups Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the certification process for the FAST evidence-based model Co-design and coordinate school-based events Collaborate closely with the Program Director, Supervisors, Case Planners, and other program staff to coordinate services Supervise the Community Pathways Worker, who provides services to 8 families and facilitates FAST groups Attend essential school-based meetings and events to identify school and family needs, and share service offerings Attend weekly program staff meetings, supervision, and trainings Build relationships with community-based service providers and other key community stakeholders Collaborate with all CFL programs to insure an integrated approach to serving families Complete documentation and data entry as required by the program QUALIFICATIONS BA/BS/BSW with experience in partnership building, program implementation & family engagement; OR Master's degree in social work, education, or similar human services with relevant experience Bilingual in Spanish or Mandarin preferred Experience working in, or in partnership with, schools preferred Groupwork skills and experience preferred RELATIONSHIP WITH OTHERS Must have excellent relationship-building skills to create and maintain close, daily interactions with co-workers, supervisors, school staff, and parents Excellent family engagement skills to build trusting collaborations with parents and families Excellent communication skills to coordinate and collaborate with program staff, school staff, parents, and external service providers Excellent ability to multi-task and adapt to multiple sites Have a strong sensitivity to cultural differences present among staff and families in our organization and partner schools Possess a strong belief in people's ability to grow and change WORKING CONDITIONS Work is primarily in a school setting with some office work Some time is spent at a desk using a computer Occasional home visits may be required Attendance at various meetings at schools, the agency and in the community Regular travel among four schools located in Sunset Park Some evening and weekend work is required Fast-paced, high-energy, and highly collaborative environment This is a full-time, in-person position SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY
The School Outreach Liaison is a leadership position within the new School-Based Early Support Program responsible for developing effective partnerships between schools and the program and facilitating intentional co-design strategies to create a new, school-centered family support program. This is a Full-time position at 35 hours per week. The position may reach the exempt threshold, as the salary is commensurate with experience/education.
