**Senior/Principal Buyer**
Alameda, CA / Production / External As a Senior Buyer at Penumbra, you will play a pivotal role in the development and production of our life-saving medical devices. Working cross functionally with engineering, operations, and manufacturing, you will take the lead on the planning and procurement of materials for R&D and production.
+ Procure raw and sub-contract materials and coordinate delivery schedules with suppliers to meet production schedules
+ Assist in the selection, monitoring and evaluation of suppliers based on quality, reliability and cost
+ Interface and communicate with suppliers to ensure performance expectations and optimal business relationships are maintained
+ Work with engineers to establish a second source on single source materials
+ Analyze and initiate steps to minimize the financial and operations impact of carrying excess, obsolete and/or expired materials
+ Maintain internal systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Penumbra's quality standards
+ Resolve invoice, packing slip and certificate of compliance issues as needed
+ Review and approve Engineering Change Orders
+ Participate on new product development teams
+ Participate in supplier audits
+ A passion for teamwork and problem solving
+ Five to eight years' experience as a buyer-planner, preferably in the medical device or other regulated industry
+ Familiarity with MRP systems. QAD experience a plus.
+ APICS certification a plus
+ Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
